Cammy MacPherson was the man of the moment at the weekend and couldn’t have picked a better moment to pull a St Mirren cracker out the bag.
His strike away to Hamilton handed Jim Goodwin’s side a crucial 1-0 win at the home of Accies, their first win on the road this term. It lifts Jim Goodwin’s men into ninth.

In what was a stuffy game, MacPherson’s moment of magic sealed all three points. After watching a free kick of his come crashing off the bar, his drive from the edge of the box from a loose ball hurtled into the bottom corner at breakneck speed.
He’ll struggle to hit a ball so sweetly in such a big game again. MacPherson reckons it’s the best goal of his career and that this win is massive for his side.
“It’s the best goal I’ve scored,” he said. “I scored one for Stranraer that was probably better but that means more. To score in a game like that and get the three points is unbelievable.

“It’s very important and we end up sticking it out. We knew how tough a game it would be and that we’d climb a couple of places with a win, so I’m delighted.
“Hopefully we’ll carry it forward into a few games. We know if we play like that we’re a match for anyone. We had a couple of good chances but were denied by the goalkeeper.
“We’ve not created enough but hopefully that can change now. I’ve been wanting a start for a while now so to take like that means a lot. Playing like that we’re a good team.”
