Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has heaped praise on Sam Cosgrove and Lewis Ferguson following a 1-0 win over Hamilton.
Ferguson’s strike against his former side was enough to settle the game as McInnes’ men roll into fourth place with victory.
Goalscorer Ferguson has been heavily praised by his boss. He said: “Lewis has come up with an important goal, but not only does he score very important goals for me, he’s scored some brilliant goals technically.
“Tonight it was a brilliant finish. I think he can do everything, wherever you ask him. The first game he played was against Burnley. We had him and Graeme Shinnie as two number eight’s supporting Cosgrove.
“That’s where we thought we’d get the best of him and that’s still where I see him. Fergie’s been a huge player for me since he came in.”
Cosgrove has been praised by McInnes too
This was the first time Aberdeen have won this season without Cosgrove scoring, breaking an 11 game streak.
His manager still found room to praise his all-round game though after a strong display.
McInnes said: “I think we all expect so much from Sam now. I thought the first 30 minutes of the game he was quite frustrated and he maybe should of scored.
“I thought he lead the line brilliantly. He should have scored tonight and he’ll be disappointed. He did play his part.”
