Daniel Stendel reckons Hearts‘ problems have been around long before his arrival as he watched his new side slump to a 2-1 defeat against Hamilton.

After a scrappy first half, Accies got the lead. Mickel Miller linked up well with George Oakley to give the home side momentum before Will Collar scored the decisive second goal.

Oliver Bozanic got one back for Hearts as the game was coming to an end but it wasn’t enough. It leaves the Jambos bottom over Christmas heading into a huge derby with Hibs on Boxing day.

For Stendel, however, he’s been left with a few things to contemplate after overseeing three defeats in his opening week as Tynecastle boss .

“I think it’s best that I don’t say too much,” said Stendel. “Today was a very bad day but we have next week’s two games. For today, it’s really difficult.

“We need to change things. Either some players have to come back or we need some different players. The problem is not from the last two weeks but a long time before.

“I was disappointed with the goals we lost. We had a big chance when the ball came off the crossbar. Up until they scored we controlled the game. We needed to block the ball and the second goal was the same.

“I’m really disappointed and I take the responsibility for the last two weeks. It’s very difficult to accept some performances.”
