Ross County’s Jason Naismith is managing to find some positives from his team’s recent 5-0 loss to Rangers. He came face to face with Ibrox talent Borna Barisic in the match. Naismith feels that he can take some pointers for his game going forward after coming up against the Croatian defender.
“My direct opponent was Barisic. I just took wee pointers from that, even me at 26. I came out of the game, and some of the stuff that he’s done during the game, I had it in my mind, and hopefully that improves me as a player” he said.
“You can always take positives out of the game and what you can learn but as a team we obviously need to do better with certain aspects of the game” Naismith continued.
“It was an eye-opener for me to see that, him just getting into good habits and how good a professional and how fit he was. If you don’t take these things onboard you’re never going to improve. Every time you play these top teams you need to take a pointer from these guys” he concluded.
Naismith and County take on Motherwell in a big game tonight. The teams are only separated by one point towards the bottom of the Premiership. Naismith expects it to be a tough game.
“We need to defend well. They’ve got quality Motherwell, they finished third last season with basically the same squad. We’re under no illusions how tough a task it is going to be. It’s every bit as important to us as it is to them, and we need to make sure they know they’ve been in a game from the first whistle.”
