Callum Davidson says St Johnstone will ‘work away’ at Guy Melamed’s contract after the likes of Sunderland were linked with his name.
Three League One clubs, including Sunderland, were reported to be interested in a summer move for the Israeli forward who is out-of-contract in the summer. He has scored six goals with three assists in 16 appearances for Saints, scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 Scottish Cup third round victory over Dundee.

Manager Davidson is happy to be through, providing an update on Melamed’s future and the penalty save by goalkeeper Zander Clark: “Guy is out of contract at the end of the season. So we will see how he gets on. That’s among the priorities so we’ll work away at it.
“The goal was something we worked on, slide ball down the side, great run by Stevie May and Guy has that quality and that habit of putting the ball in the net. It was a good finish. We’re delighted to be in the next round. I don’t know what their penalty was given for but it was a fantastic save from Zander.
“I thought Charlie Adam would score but I wasn’t sure about the penalty. These things even themselves out and we look forward to the next round. Coming to a place like Dens, Dundee have a Premiership squad in my opinion, so we knew how hard it was going to be. The lovely weather dried the pitch out a bit so it made it difficult for either to play much football.”
