Daniel Stendel is hoping that John Souttar is back sooner rather than later after the Scotland international missed Hearts’ win over Falkirk.
A Sean Clare penalty was all it took to separate the sides as the Jambos ran out 1-0 winners over the Bairns in the Scottish Cup last 16. In the quarter finals, they will face Rangers at home.
One star who missed this game was Souttar. The centre-back has already missed a lengthy part of this season through injury but recently made a return to the Gorgie XI.
Stendel has provided an update on his situation, hoping for a Souttar return very shortly: “John Souttar, after the game on Wednesday, was not fit to play today. I hope for next week he comes back as we have big games. We need him.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Falkirk’s style was as we expected and we lost a bit of our confidence in the first half. We lost the ball too easily and then we give Falkirk the chance to come into the game.
“It wasn’t what we wanted to do. But in the end I am happy about the result. We dealt with some difficult situations today but we can now look forward to Wednesday.”
