Jake Doyle-Hayes says he’ll be delighted if he can follow a similar career trajectory to former Aston Villa teammate John McGinn at St Mirren.
The young Irish midfielder has joined the Buddies until the end of the season following a spell with Aston Villa. He made three senior appearances for the Villans before an exit this summer.

Several clubs north and south of the border tried to secure his signature but it’s Jim Goodwin and St Mirren who have won the race. Doyle-Hayes could make his debut tonight against Dundee United.
One of Aston Villa’s key men in McGinn made his name in Paisley with St Mirren. It’s something the new Buddies recruit is keen to take inspiration from.
“I’ve seen the likes of John McGinn do really well in the Scottish league and thought it would be a good chance for me too,” said Doyle-Hayes.

“I didn’t speak to John about it really but you just have to look at the way his career has gone, he’s done some unbelievable things so far.
“He was someone I looked up to while I was at Aston Villa, especially as he played in my position. Hopefully I can replicate what he’s done.”
