Hearts take on Rangers at Hampden this afternoon in the second League Cup semi-final of the weekend – and some Jambos are absolutely fuming at interim boss Austin MacPhee’s starting XI.
After replacing the sacked Craig Levein in midweek, MacPhee has named a bold side for the crunch Hampden clash – with the exclusion of Uche Ikpeazu a real issue after impressing when the sides met at Tynecastle a few weeks ago.
MacPhee has instead opted for Steven MacLean and the rarely-seen Craig Wighton to lead the line as they look to extend Rangers’ run of defeats at the National Stadium.
Ikpeazu is named on the bench, alongside Steven Naismith and Jamie Walker, but Hearts fans already fear the worst for their chances of making a second successive domestic final.

With a clash with Celtic awaiting the winners after their 5-2 drubbing of Hibs yesterday, MacPhee will be hoping his surprise starting XI can catch Steven Gerrard’s side off-guard.
Some fans on Twitter don’t expect that to happen – with one calling the decision to start Wighton and MacLean “baffling.”
