Veteran Hibernian defender Paul Hanlon has admitted that the Easter Road side only have themselves to blame for not winning the last Edinburgh Derby of the season.
Hibs were seemingly cruising to a 1-0 victory, but Uche Ikpeazu’s late equaliser won a point for the Tynecastle side.
Hanlon believes that his side took their foot off the gas after taking the lead.
“Got one chance”

“It was disappointing. It wasn’t as if they were bombarding our goal, they got one chance and took it” he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
“But we took our foot off the gas a bit, didn’t keep the ball as well as we had been doing and were hit, I thought, by a scrappy sucker punch.”

Missed chance to increase lead over rivals
The result was particularly disappointing for Hibs, as they missed the chance of moving five points ahead of their bitter rivals in the league table.

The gap between the teams is currently three points, with Hibs facing a trip to in-form Rangers in their next league game.
Even if Hibs don’t finish ahead of their rivals in the league table, it has still been a good spell for the Easter Road club.
They have yet to lose a league game since the appointment of Paul Heckingbottom. If that continues until the end of the season, the dropped points against Hearts will be all but forgotten about.
