Dundee manager James McPake has hailed former Dundee United winger as the best signing he’s made as he claimed opposition teams haven’t worried so much about a Dundee player since Greg Stewart played for the Dark Blues.

McMullan made the short move from one Dundee club to the other earlier this year, signing on loan initially, and made a huge impression by racking up 10 assists in 19 appearances last season to help secure promotion to the Premiership.

McPake made his move for McMullan permanent over the summer and the winger has continued to create goals, leaving the Dens Park boss raving about the former Celtic kid’s influence on his side.

“In terms of signings, for the overall impact, Paul is the best one I’ve made,” McPake said [ET].

“Paul came in and made us a real attacking threat.

“He made goals and he brought a fear factor back to the club I don’t think we’d had since Greg Stewart.

“I see it in training, players are scared to face him up because they know he’ll hit the byline and cross it.

“Paul is a throwback winger. These days they all like to come in the pitch, but Paul wants to go down the side and cross it.

“He’s told us he’s fitter now, we have got him right and we are looking forward to seeing him play at Tannadice on Sunday.”

The Dundee sides go head-to-head tomorrow with Dundee looking to secure their first win at Tannadice in 17 years.

If the likes of McMullan, Charlie Adam, Leigh Griffiths and Jason Cummings are on form, it should be an absolute cracker between the two rivals.
