The team selected by Jim McIntyre for Dundee’s Scottish Cup replay against Queen of the South will make interesting reading.

The game falls only four days before a huge league clash against Hamilton.

Hamilton are currently a point ahead of Dundee in the league table, sitting in 10th place.

But they currently have no manager, having parted company with Martin Canning.

Therefore it could be seen as a good time for Dundee to play an Accies side who seem to be in freefall.

You would imagine that most Dundee fans would prioritise the league match over Tuesday’s nights cup tie also.

Not only will the trip to Palmerston be tough, even if the Dee win they will likely face a trip to Aberdeen in the next round.

That is a game they are unlikely to win, at this moment in time.

Premiership survival is more important to Dundee than Scottish Cup success.

That theory would also apply to bottom of the Premiership St Mirren, who face Dundee United in the next round of the cup.

It might not be good for the image of the cup, but for Dundee, the cup is a distant second to the league table.

It would not be a shock to see the Dundee boss pick a shadow team for the Queens clash, as the Hamilton game looms on the horizon.
