Dundee United and Motherwell go head-to-head tonight at Tannadice with the Terrors looking to leapfrog the Steelmen and take fourth place in the Scottish Premiership – and both sides have confirmed their starting XIs ahead of kick-off.
Tam Courts’ side currently six sixth but could go fourth, depending on results elsewhere, with a win tonight as Tony Watt faces his former side just weeks after leaving Fir Park.
After losing to Celtic at the weekend, Motherwell boss Graham Alexander admits it was hard to find any positives from the game, holding his hands up and taking responsibility for the defear, saying: “It was difficult to find positives as it was a really tough afternoon for us. I have to take responsibility for that more than the players do. I think I got things wrong.
“I have to take that on the chin. But what pleased me was the players never gave in. It was a really afternoon and when they score before half-time, you know it’s going to be a difficult second half.
“To be fair to the players, they didn’t throw in the towel. It’s something we have to quickly put behind us and move on into the future.”
United haven’t scored in their last three and will be hoping Tony Watt can open his account for the club after his January move from Motherwell.
Motherwell haven’t fared much better recently, failing to win a game in 90 minutes since Boxing Day.
With both sides having their sights set on European football next season however, there is likely to be a tense match in store at Tannadice tonight.
