Hibernian caretaker boss Eddie May has been discussing Celtic midfielder Scott Allan.

The Easter Road side agreed a pre-contract with the Hoops player for next season, but were unable to persuade Celtic to sell him to Hibernian in January.

May believes Allan could be involved when the teams meet at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

“If Scott was at Hibernian, which he will be in the summer, he’d be a main player, like he was last season” May told Edinburgh Live. “He’s hardly featured in a squad, never mind a team, that’s the quality Celtic have got.

May is perhaps being diplomatic, as the chances of Allan playing against his future employers seems remote.

Allan hasn’t featured for Celtic at all this season, after being one of Hibernian’s star men whilst on-loan last season.

Perhaps if Celtic didn’t have such a huge injury list then Allan would have been allowed to leave the club. That seems to be the only reason that he is still in Glasgow, as he is nowhere near the first-team.

As for the match itself, Hibernian will be looking to record a victory to stay in the hunt for a top six finish. They are capable of getting a result, as in December that easily defeated Celtic 2-0.
