Hibs return to action tomorrow night when they face Kilmarnock in the League Cup quarter finals.

Paul Heckingbottom is under serious pressure as Hibs boss following a dismal 2-1 derby defeat to Hearts. He has just one win in 11 league games.

His progression to this stage of the League Cup hasn’t been smooth either, edging Morton 5-3 after extra time in the last round.

With Heckingbottom likely to ring the changes, here’s our predicted Hibs XI for the game at Rugby Park.

The starting XI

Chris Maxwell was a shock selection for the derby and has played most of Hibs’ League Cup games. With that in mind, he likely starts at Rugby Park.

We think Tom James will replace Jason Naismith at right-back with the ever-present Lewis Stevenson on the left hand side of defence.

Paul Hanlon and Ryan Porteous will be the centre-half duo. The latter made his first appearance of the Premiership campaign against Killie a few weeks back.

It’ll be a five man midfield for Heckingbottom. Melker Hallberg and Stevie Mallan will operate in front of the back four whilst Scott Allan plays his traditional number ten role.

Glenn Middleton will replace Josh Vela and start on the left and Daryl Horgan will play on the right.

Whilst Florian Kamberi is perhaps a better option up top, Heckingbottom may opt for Christian Doidge. The Welshman is in dire need of a confidence boost after failing to net in any Premiership games so far. His boss could give him the chance to find one in Ayrshire.

Overall there are three changes from the derby. Here’s our predicted XI in list form.

CB- Paul Hanlon

LB- Lewis Stevenson
