Dundee United host city rivals Dundee in the first top-flight Dundee Derby in five years and fans have been reacting on Twitter after the starting XI for both sides were confirmed.

Not since the ‘Doon Derby’ at Dens Park in May 2016, a game in which the hosts came from behind to relegate their rivals, have they clashed in the Premiership – although they did meet last in the Championship in December 2019.

The Arabs hold a 14-year unbeaten record against the Dee and rookie boss Thomas Courts will be hoping his side can extend that run and potentially climb as high as fifth in the league table.

Keeper Benji Siegrist returns for the home side after missing a number of games through injury with the impressive Trevor Carson dropping to the bench.

Dundee are without veteran midfielder Charlie Adam but there is places in the starting XI for on-loan Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and ex-United winger Paul McMullan.

Both sets of fans appear a bit apprehensive ahead of the game but it looks set to be a fantastic game with plenty of attacking talent on display.
