Middleton limped off during Scotland’s under-21 clash with Belgium at Tannadice, tweaking his hamstring, and Saints boss Callum Davidson has confirmed the Rangers loanee will miss the Hampden semi.

Davidson is still waiting to discover just how bad the injury to Middleton is ahead of a run of crucial games with the McDiarmid Park boss crossing his fingers that it isn’t too severe.

“Glenn will be out on Saturday,” Davidson said. “He’s tweaked his hamstring.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

“We’ll need to find out how bad it is.

“Glenn hasn’t had a muscle injury before in his career. Hopefully it’s just a little strain and he won’t be out for too long.

“We’ve got some big games coming up after this one and we need to make sure he’s OK.

“It’s not that long ago we were struggling with defenders and I had loads of attackers. Now it’s the other way around.

“Eetu has looked a lot better and we’ve got Ali Crawford, Michael O’Halloran and David Wotherspoon who can all play in forward positions so it’s their chance to show what they can do.”
