A dramatic ending handed the Aberdeen Reserve side a 2-1 defeat in Glasgow at the hands of Rangers.

The Dons faced off against Rangers at the Hummel Training Centre. It’s part of a series of friendly matches where Aberdeen, Brentford, Celtic, Hibs, Huddersfield and Rangers will all face each other home and away.

A team with familiar faces travelled to face the Gers, with Dean Campbell, Conor McLennan and Bruce Anderson all featuring, as well as an unknown trialist.

They were facing against a young Gers side who have competed well in European youth action and who’s Colts side have progressed to the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

It started so well for the Dons. Lloyd Robertson opened the scoring on the 37th mark heading into half time. It put them in a decent position although they couldn’t capitalise on it.

Ross McCausland equalised for Rangers before the hour mark and late heartbreak was to follow for Aberdeen. Ciaran Dickson scored with virtually the last kick of the ball at HTC.

It’s a disappointing result for the Dons but it’s all going towards their learning experience as they progress through the Pittodrie ranks.
