The teenager moved from Hearts to Serie A side Bologna at the start of the season as the Edinburgh club faced a season in the Scottish Championship, having been relegated from the Premiership in the 2019/20 campaign. Celtic were linked with a move for their former academy product prior to his Italian move.
Now just one year into his spell abroad, Hickey is being linked with a return to Celtic, and he has reportedly been presented to new manager Eddie Howe, who will take over as Celtic manager for the start of next season.
Hickey would cost Celtic around £4 million and it is not known whether Hearts have an existing sell-on clause from the deal earlier this season. Hickey made 12 appearances in his first season at Bologna before a shoulder injury ended his campaign. Celtic released Hickey as a youngster before making his Hearts debut against the Hoops, aged 16.
