Hearts’ teenage prospect Aaron Hickey has confirmed his departure from Tynecastle via social media.
The full-back has been linked with a host of clubs since his breakthrough into the Jambos first-team aged 16, starting in a Scottish Cup final during what was only his second senior appearance.

Former club Celtic have been linked whilst there have been plenty of names connected with Hickey down south. Most recently, Champions League winners Bayern München expressed interest, the teenager reportedly flying out Bavaria to review the German giants’ facilities.
But it’s Bologna of Serie A who look set to capture Hickey’s signature. The Italian club have been vocal about their interest in the Hearts youngster, and whilst he won’t be a regular starter in Italy’s top flight, Hickey will make up part of their senior side.
It hasn’t been confirmed by either club, but the player himself has taken to Instagram to end the rumours and confirm his departure from Hearts. It is now expected that he will complete his Bologna transfer imminently.
“After four amazing years at the club, I want to give a massive thanks to my family and friends, all the players staff and fans for supporting me through the years,” Hickey said.
“Wishing all the best to Heart of Midlothian FC in coming seasons.”
