Aaron Martin looking forward to new experiences at Hamilton

Aaron Martin says he’s looking forward to a new challenge after the former Southampton defender joined Hamilton Accies.

A 31-year-old centre-back, Brian Rice has moved to bring in reinforcements as his squad is hit with injury. The former Southampton man goes straight into his squad to face Rangers on Sunday.

Martin started out in non-league football with Eastleigh down south, before securing a big move to Southampton. He spent five years with the Saints before leaving St Mary’s in 2014.

Since then he has featured for the likes of Birmingham City, Coventry City, Oxford United and Exeter City most recently, where he helped them reach the League Two play-offs

Now he takes his first steps into Scottish football. Martin says it’s a challenge that excites him after going through plenty of experiences in the professional game.

“I’ve been in the game a long time now, I’m looking forward to playing a different style of football and I’m really looking forward to get going again,” he said (Accies TV).

“There will be some tough games up here but I’m looking forward to experiencing the difference in opposition in Scotland. I think it’s going to be high-tempo.

“I’ve been really impressed. Everyone seems really friendly and I’m looking forward to settling in.”
