Aberdeen and Motherwell have had their Europa League first round qualifying round opponents confirmed after this evening’s action.
The Dons were due to face the winner of NSI Runavik v Barry Town whilst the winner of Glentoran v HB Torshavn awaited Stephen Robinson’s Well side.

It’s Runavik of the Faroe Islands for Aberdeen after they smashed Welsh outfit Barry Town 5-1. It was a game marred by treacherous conditions though, with heavy fog clouding much of the players’ vision during the match. It didn’t bother Runavik though as they romped to an easy win.
Motherwell’s opponents were much closer but eventually it was Glentoran of Robinson’s native Northern Ireland who secured the win. Robbie McDaid got the only goal for the Northern Irish side, earning them a trip to Fir Park next week.
Both Aberdeen and Motherwell have home advantage next week for their one-legged ties. They’ll take place next Thursday with a place in second round of qualifying up for grabs.

Whilst Derek McInnes’ side will be seeded if they beat Runavik, it’ll be the unseeded section for the Well, which could lead to glamour ties against the likes of AC Milan and Tottenham if they manage to get past Glentoran.
