Derek McInnes looks set to feature Scott Wright at some stage of Sunday’s match against Rangers at Pittodrie. The 23-year-old winger has just returned from injury, and featured for the last 27 minutes of the recent game against Dundee United.
Now that Wright is fit, he seems set to be a regular for the Dons once more. However, McInnes isn’t giving much away about it the player will start against the league leaders. But he is hopeful that the player can recapture the form he showed before his injury lay off.
“Needs to have a really good week”
“Scott needs to have a really good week now ahead of the Rangers game to try to get him as right as he can be” he said.
“Hopefully Scott has that confidence due to the fact he got on the pitch against Dundee United which should help him for the next one against Rangers. Ideally Scott can pick up where he left off in being an important player for us” McInnes continued.
Impressed during training
The player returned to the first-team squad after only a few training session. He impressed the Dons’ management team so much, McInnes revealed, they even considered starting him against Dundee United.
“We were just trying to make sure that the first day back was okay. Then he trained fully on Friday and was outstanding to the point where we thought we could put him in. Obviously Scott didn’t feel ready for that, but it was good to get him on the pitch” McInnes concluded.
