Aberdeen facing eye-watering Premiership cash chasm as Celtic mega fees dwarf rivals

Aberdeen will see their 100 per cent start to the season go up against its biggest test yet when they take on Celtic this weekend.

The Dons are seven wins from seven in the Premiership so far, and 13 from 13 overall under new boss Jimmy Thelin. They hope to maintain their early season charge to stay in the title race with the Hoops and Rangers.

Plenty have already had their say on whether Aberdeen can challenge or split the Old Firm by finishing second, but the true proof will be in the pudding as they travel to the hardest venue there is in Scottish football.

Celtic were up against a financial chasm as they were thumped 7-1 by Dortmund in the Champions League but the script is flipped when they take on their Premiership rivals domestically.

Aberdeen coughed up close to £1million to sign Finland international Topi Keskinen from HJK Helsinki in the summer but that is chicken feed to the champions as they splashed out £11m on record signing Arne Engels.

Not the Old Firm has decided to take a look at the financial disparity between the two ahead of their top-of-the-table clash.
