Aberdeen legend Brian Irvine has rued the recent foot injury picked up by Dons midfielder Ross McCrorie. Aberdeen’s performance in the recent 4-1 loss to Ross County was concerning enough for the club. But arguably even worse was the injury picked up by the Rangers loanee.
McCrorie has been one of Aberdeen’s best players this season. But now he is set to be out of action for a number of weeks.
Duo make team tick
Irvine feels that this will be a real blow for the Dons. In his opinion they perform best when the duo of McCrorie and Lewis Ferguson are playing well in the middle of the park.

“Lewis Ferguson and Ross McCrorie, who are the heart and engine of the Aberdeen team, didn’t really perform in Dingwall” he said (Evening Express).
“It is no accident that when they don’t perform, neither does the team. Losing McCrorie to injury is going to be a big loss. They are at their best when McCrorie and Ferguson are in the centre of midfield driving the team on” Irvine mused.
Concerned about attacker’s injury
The former Aberdeen man was also concerned about how the Dons reacted when Jonny Hayes suffered an injury against Ross County.

“When they lost Hayes, it was the turning point against Ross County. When Hayes went off injured, Aberdeen lost their impetus and momentum” he stated.
Aberdeen return to action on Saturday against Motherwell at Pittodrie. Despite losing heavily in Dingwall, a win in that game would move the team to third in the league table, above Hibernian with a game in hand.
