Aberdeen legend Willie Miller has had his say on what would constitute a good January transfer window for his old team.

Miller hopes that one piece of business Aberdeen get done is a new loan deal for Marley Watkins. The player is set to return to Bristol City at the end of January, but Miller is hopeful that the player can agree a new deal, and remain at Pittodrie until the end of the season.

“A good signing”

“Watkins has been out with a hamstring injury since the start of November. But the Welsh attacker is close to a return and if Aberdeen could get him until the end of the season it would be a good signing” he said (Evening Express).

“Prior to his injury, Watkins had been very influential in Aberdeen’s attack.”

Miller also had his say on Greg Leigh, who is on a short-term deal at the club. The former Aberdeen boss hopes that the Dons can keep hold of the player. Miller is a fan of his versatility.

“Shown his versatility”

“If the Reds could extend his deal it would be a good piece of business. The English defender has shown his versatility being able to play left-back, left wing-back, centre-back or in midfield. McInnes also knows exactly what Leigh will give him which is another plus point” Miller stated.

The Aberdeen boss will be keen to keep hold of the mention duo. Losing any important players in January could jeopardise Aberdeen’s bid to finish third in the Premiership. Miller and the Aberdeen support will be hoping for positive news on the players soon.
