Aberdeen are set to appoint Atlanta United reserve team manager Stephen Glass and Celtic captain Scott Brown as their new management team (Daily Record).

Reports have claimed that the duo are set to be confirmed in the ‘next 48 hours.’ Both Glass and Celtic captain Brown have held talks with Dons chairman Dave Cormack over potential moves to the north-east.

Aberdeen are on the hunt for a new manager after the departure of former boss Derek McInnes, Paul Sheerin’s interim reign starting poorly, a 1-0 defeat to Dundee United. Glass has been interviewed for the manager’s post after his work with Atlanta United’s reserve squad, the MLS club involved with Aberdeen in a strategic partnership.

A former Aberdeen player and part of the 1995 League Cup winning squad, Glass could be confirmed by the end of this week with former Hibs teammate Brown as his assistant. The 35-year-old has been offered a new Celtic deal but is opting for Pittodrie and a potential fast-track into management.

In the meantime, Aberdeen have scored one goal in 10 matches, interim manager Sheerin disappointed after the 1-0 Tannadice defeat: “It was another frustrating afternoon for us. The fact that we can’t score goals has been there for a while and with every game, that becomes more and more worrying.

“We’ve been striving to rectify that and I thought, in terms of our build up play getting into the final third, a lot of it was good. But while that play maybe deserves goals, you have to score them and we’re not doing that.”
