Aberdeen have secured the services of young midfielder Mark Gallagher as he swaps The Global Energy Stadium for Pittodrie.

The youngster arrives at the Dons from Ross County. He’s made two senior appearances for the Staggies, both coming in the Championship as County earned Premiership promotion.

His ability and potential has clearly caught the eye of Derek McInnes. Gallagher has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Pittodrie and will go into their Development Squad for now.

It was not so long ago that Aberdeen picked up another young midfielder from a Premiership rival. They snapped up Lewis Ferguson from Aberdeen after the Accies academy product’s contract expired.

He’s proven to be a success story and has made 70 appearances in red already, despite being just 20. The Dons will hope for similar success somewhere down the line with Gallagher.

Aberdeen’s Development squad have been playing matches against Brentford, Celtic, Hibs, Huddersfield and Rangers this year. It’s part of a programme of competitive friendlies that aim to help with the development of each club’s future stars.
