Against all odds, Norwich City beat Manchester City this weekend, and ex-Aberdeen and St Mirren star Kenny McLean had a part to play.

Dealing with numerous injuries and picking two goalkeepers on the bench due to their injury crisis, McLean was picked from the start against Pep Guardiola’s rampant City team.

McLean notched one of the three Canary goals as the Citizens fell to their first defeat since January.

Aberdeen and St Mirren will be delighted for McLean

His goal was very well taken, if not through a surprise avenue. McLean put the Canaries in front, losing his man to convert a header into the top corner.

He doesn’t mind a pop at goal from range, but headers are a rarity for the Scotsman. Regardless of that, he still did enough to put his effort past Ederson in the City goal.

They were two nil up shortly after before Sergio Aguero pulled one back for his side. A horrendous error at the back though allowed Teemu Pukki to all but end the match.

Both Aberdeen and St Mirren will be buzzing for their former star. After breaking through the Paisley academy and making 152 appearances with the Buddies, he made the switch to Pittodrie.

McLean didn’t disappoint here either, notching 25 goals and 18 assists over 158 games for the Red Army.

He is now thriving in the Premier League with Norwich. The former Buddies and Dons man is proving he can perform on all levels of the footballing ladder.
