Aberdeen defender Calvin Ramsay has been named one of world football’s most exciting teenage stars in a new list published by FourFourTwo.

Ramsay was named 35th on the list, headed by Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jude Bellingham, as the Scotland youth international continues to make waves.

After making the breakthrough at Pittodrie, the teen has been watched by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, while Serie A side Bologna saw several bids rejected in the January transfer window.

So far this season, Ramsay has made 25 appearances for Aberdeen, creating eight goals for the Dons in the process, as they look to push for European football next season.

The 18-year-old is a key part of Stephen Glass’ side and it seems unlikely that he will be part of the set up at Pittodrie much longer with some absolutely massive clubs keen to sign the right-back.

Ramsay is the only Scot to make the list – although Southampton defender Tino Livramento is also on there in 11th and remains eligible for a Scotland call-up – and it is a big sign of the talent the Dons defender has.

Here’s what FourFourTwo had to say about the Aberdeen defender:

“Scotland already have two top options at left-back – now the right-back slot could well be in safe hands for the next decade or so, too.

“Barely old enough to drive and already one of the most impressive full-backs in the Scottish top tier, Calvin Ramsay is the standout star at Aberdeen. With superb ability from dead-ball situations and a natural understanding of when to invert or stretch the pitch, the young Scot seems tailor-made for a top team. All that’s lacking is experience.”
