The international break is over and perhaps Aberdeen winger Ryan Hedges will have hoped to have been a bit busier over the past week on Wales duty.
He was part of Ryan Giggs’ Wales squad for a Euro 2020 qualifier against Azerbaijan and a friendly against Belarus. It was a reward for good form with the Dons, having scored twice in three Premiership matches.

Hedges didn’t appear once though, watching from the bench as Wales beat their opponents 2-1 and 1-0.
This is quite disappointing for Hedges. He’ll have been happy with the call-up, but perhaps he would’ve expected some action, especially in the Belarus game.
It was a nothing friendly match, yet Giggs opted against giving everyone a runout.

Perhaps Aberdeen will be quietly happy about this. Playing in these games always runs the risk of injury and a player missing domestic action.
Last year for example, Mikey Devlin picked up an injury whilst on Scotland duty (Evening Express). It ruled him out for a number of weeks, limiting Derek McInnes’ centre-back options.
They’ll have a fresh Hedges back instead, which will be a boost for McInnes. The winger has impressed so far at Pittodrie since arriving from Barnsley, with dribbling ability and pace clear strengths of his.

It’s disappointing for the winger on a personal note though. He’ll have to keep working hard to try and impress Giggs before their next set of matches next month.
