Aberdeen striker Callum Hendry hasn’t given up hope on the Dons catching Hibernian in the battle for third in the Premiership.

Hendry was the man who brought the Dons’ long goal drought to an end with the only goal of the game against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

As it stands the Dons are second favourites in the battle against Hibernian. The Easter Road side are four points clear with a game in hand. However, with eight league games still remaining, Hendry wants to put Hibernian under pressure.

To that end, Aberdeen will need to continue winning, with Celtic at Celtic Park on the horizon this weekend. Hendry sounds confident the Dons can get a result in Glasgow and keep the battle for third alive.

“As much pressure as we can”

“We want to put as much pressure as we can on Hibernian to keep that third spot” he said (Daily Record).

“We’ll do everything we can to keep that. The boys are very confident going into the game at the weekend” Hendry continued.

“We have to build”

“It’s important we take everything from Saturday into this week and the weeks after. We have to build on it, we know what’s expected of us.

“We go into every game wanting three points, we know the expectancy. But we’ll take each week as it comes and pick up as many points as we can to get third.”

With Hibernian taking on a struggling Motherwell this weekend, the trip to Celtic Park is a big one for Aberdeen. If they fail to get the three points it will make the battle all that more difficult. Thankfully for the Dons fans, the players at least sound confident going into the game.
