Aberdeen’s Curtis Main is looking forward to developing a partnership with fellow striker Sam Cosgrove. The duo have not played together that often this season, but both started in the Boxing Day win over St Johnstone.

Derek McInnes must be thinking very strongly about selecting the duo for the trip to Livingston this afternoon. Main has admitted that it has been a frustrating season for both players. However, he is now confident that with both players fit they can work together well for the Dons.

“We can score goals”

“Both Sam and I are confident that we can score goals. Sam and I have had spells together but this season it has not happened very often because one or both of us have not been available” he said (Official Aberdeen website).

“It has been frustrating for me, and I know for Sam as well. We both believe that we will score goals if we are in the team together” he concluded.

It will be interesting to see if the duo start against Livingston. Derek McInnes may decide to err on the side of caution. After all, Livingston will likely be a tough test for the Dons. That could mean reverting to one striker up-front for the game.

Both players seem confident

However, he might have been impressed with how the duo played against St Johnstone. It is also a positive sign that both players seem to believe in their ability to find the back of the net.

Now that both players are fit, McInnes might decide that the team will play better with two strikers. Only time will tell.
