Ryan Edmondson has sent a message as he nears a return to Aberdeen from Leeds United.

Derek McInnes moved to sign the young Leeds prospect last month to help the Dons cope with a loss of senior strikers at Pittodrie through injury. Edmondson would soon find himself on the treatment table though.

He picked up an ankle injury that looked set to keep him out for months. It was a blow for the player, McInnes and Leeds, but there’s good news to be had now.

Aberdeen’s manager confirmed in the build-up to their 1-0 win over Kilmarnock that Edmondson was close to an Aberdeen return. Now Edmondson has confirmed that will be the case via social media.

“A massive thank you goes out to Rob Price and all of the medial staff at Leeds United for helping me on my road to recovery,” Edmondson said on social media.

“Been quicker than we expected!! Time to head back up to Aberdeen. Wish Leeds United all the best.”

Edmondson will link up with an Aberdeen team who are in terrific form just now. A Ross McCrorie goal was all it took to beat Kilmarnock at Pittodrie, sealing an impressive fifth win on the spin.

They go into a big week with a Europa League second round qualifier against Viking in Norway and home Premiership match with Motherwell full of confidence.
