Aberdeen’s Scott Wright is set to be out of action for a while as he prepares to have a double hernia operation. The striker had found himself as a regular in the Dons side this season, and recently scored in the 2-0 win over Hibernian.
However, the operation will stop his season in his tracks, and Wright will have to watch from the sidelines as he battles to regain his fitness.
Met aim of becoming regular
The 23-year-old isn’t letting the injury get him done though. Indeed, Wright feels that he has met his aim of becoming a first-team regular at the club.
“My aim was always to come in and play in Aberdeen’s first team. I have done that and now I want to nail my spot in the starting XI and make sure the manager picks me most weeks” he said (Evening Express).
The timing is poor for Wright as he is of the opinion that he was enjoying his best spell at Pittodrie. However, he isn’t letting the injury get him down.
“I was really happy”
“I was really happy with how the season was going, although I still felt I could have improved by adding more goals to my game” Wright continued.
Wright is hopeful that when he returns from injury, his goal against Hibernian will lead to more.
“I was happy I was getting in the positions, although disappointed I was missing some chances. I thought I had turned a corner after the Hibs game by getting a goal. Sometimes all it takes is to get one goal, and then they all come. After the surgery I will focus on my rehab in order to get back quickly.”
