Hamilton have announced that they will appeal Jamie Hamilton’s red card as the Accies injury crisis could be set to deepen after Crystal Palace loanee Sam Woods’ injury.

Accies were 2-0 up on Hearts during the weekend’s fixture between the bottom two sides. The game took a turn after Hamilton’s 17-year-old centre-half was dismissed by Kevin Clancy.

The youngster was sent off for handling the ball as Liam Boyce made his way through on goal. Whilst video replays clearly show the ball hitting his hand, whether it was intentional or not has thrown up debate. The game finished 2-2.

Hamilton have decided to appeal the decision. Already they are struggling with injuries at the back and another body missing would be a blow for Brian Rice as his side fight to beat the drop.

Crystal Palace loanee Woods is another they might have to worry about. The Eagles defender was subbed with injury during a Reserve League match with Queen of the South yesterday.

The extent of that injury is unknown just now but it’s another man on the treatment table. Already, Accies are dealing with injuries to Brian Easton, George Oakley, Mickel Miller, Andy Dales, Ciaran McKenna and Aaron McGowan.

Rice described the injury situation as ‘horrendous’ prior to the Gorgie trip.
