Alexander Jensen scored his first Aberdeen goal as they got back to winning ways to knock Dunfermline out of the Scottish Cup.
The Dons put aside their league struggles, 14 without a win in the Premiership, to defeat the Pars by three goals to nil and progress to the last eight.
The draw for the quarter finals of the cup was carried out last night and Aberdeen will face lower league opposition again in the form of Queen’s Park.
They had beaten Elgin City in the previous round and while that didn’t spark a turnaround in the Premiership, it will be hoped that does come this time.
Jimmy Thelin identified what his Aberdeen side did better in the Dunfermline game – namely being more direct, while a clean sheet also helps.
His summer signing agrees.

Jensen on Aberdeen change
The Danish full-back felt his side were doing a lot of pointless passing in previous games whereas this time they played with intent.
That made them more dangerous in the final third and they got their rewards.
He said: “I felt in the last two games in the league I had a good feeling. We controlled the game on the pitch but we struggled in the last third to be really dangerous.
“We had a lot of the ball and were passing too much around. We spoke about how we had to be more direct and dangerous.
“I think we did that very well on Sunday. We did what we had talked about the whole week.
“Of course, there are things you can do better and there were things we could improve but it was a step in the right direction.”
Jensen on first Aberdeen goal
Jensen scored his first goal for the Pittodrie side in the game, the second just after half-time which gave them breathing space at a crucial time.
On that, he added: “I actually took a bit of a bad touch that took it outside but sometimes it can help when it is a bit bad and the shot has gone through. It was good to see.
“I have had some lucky strikes at times. I would love to add to that to score more goals. Maybe I could do that here. It would be a good sign.”
