It is always interesting how players react to transfer speculation about them. Especially when the speculation involves signing for either Rangers or Celtic. One such player is St Johnstone midfielder Ali McCann.
Various reports recently linked Celtic with an interest in the 20-year-old Northern Ireland international. One wondered if that was going to affect the player positively or negatively.
The answer seems to be the former, as McCann scored his first goal of the season for the Saints in their 2-2 draw with Hibernian on Tuesday night.
Ghosted into the penalty box
It was a decent finish by the player. He ghosted into the penalty box, wasn’t picked up by any Hibernian player, and after the ball broke to him McCann curled a shot into the corner of the net.

It is little wonder that Celtic are reportedly interested in the player when he can finish like that. Saints boss Callum Davidson will be delighted with McCann’s response to the speculation.
It could have been easy for the player to be affected by the interest. However, he seems to just be getting on with his game. That is a very mature reaction from such a young player.
Responded to speculation in the best way possible
Only time will tell if Celtic decide to make a move for McCann or not.

However, he has responded to the speculation in the best way possible. In a few weeks time St Johnstone are set to take on Celtic at Celtic Park.
It would not be a surprise to see McCann excel in the middle of the park that day. He will be out to prove a point, that he can make it at Celtic if he moves there.
