Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston has disclosed that he is not sure if Rangers loanee Dapo Mebude will play for the Championship side again.
Mebude is one of five Rangers players currently under investigation for allegedly breaking Covid-19 rules by attending a party in Glasgow.
If found guilty the players involved could face suspensions from the football authorities. As it stands, Johnston is unsure what will happen next with Mebude, and his time at Queens. Johnston did reveal though that he will hold discussions with both Rangers and the SFA about the situation.
“Still taking advice”
“We’re still taking advice from the SFA and Rangers. We just need to wait until there is more clarity there” he said.
“It’s too early to say if he’ll play for us again, we need to wait and speak to Rangers once everything settles down. We’ll speak to the SFA and see what the protocols are and take it from there” Johnston disclosed.
The manager hopes that the player, who is 19-years-old, can learn from his mistake.
“Hopefully he learns”
“There was no contact with our squad. He’s not been in since. I think the boy recognises himself he’s made a big mistake. He’s still a really young lad, and hopefully he learns from it” Johnston concluded.
Mebude has played three times for Queens since joining the Championship side on loan in January. It seemed like he could have been a regular for them until the end of the season. However, he might end up not playing another game for Queen of the South. Only time will tell.
