Aaron Hickey is continuously having his name mentioned in the same breath as some of world football’s biggest names, with a report (Scottish Sun) claiming Arsenal and Liverpool scouted him this weekend.
According to the report, the two English giants were joined by Southampton, Norwich and Newcastle as Hickey featured for Hearts once more in a 1-1 draw with Rangers.
It’s another couple of big names to add to the list of potential Hickey suitors.
Arsenal and Liverpool have reported Hickey interest
Manchester city are another team strongly linked with the 17-year-old (Daily Mail). It’s claimed that City will table a £1.5 million bid for him in January.
It’s not even a case of whether the teenager will be linked with anyone now, it’s a matter of who the next team will be.
Countless names now have been mentioned. In terms of Arsenal and Liverpool, they perhaps caught Hickey on a bad day.
You cant criticise the youngster too much, he is only 17, but he did struggle against Rangers. Playing at right-back rather than his favoured left-back role, he conceded a Rangers corner before losing his marker, Alfredo Morelos, in the box.
The Colombian punished the 17-year-old and provided him with a big learning curve. His desire to bring the ball down and play though during the game has to be commended.
As for his future, it seems as if Arsenal and Liverpool are another two teams who’ll be tracking him carefully.
