Arsenal have told Hibs they will not pay the current asking price for Josh Doig, amid mounting interest in the teenage left-back (ES).

Doig was a standout for Hibs in the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership season and it has attracted interest, primarily from England. AC Milan are thought to be keen and Celtic are too, but Arsenal interest has persisted alongside a host of other Premier League clubs.

Arsenal were defeated 2-1 by Hibs in a pre-season friendly at Easter Road earlier this month. Doig did not feature as he was recovering from illness but Mikel Arteta’s side remain keen on signing Hibs’ talented teenager. They won’t pay the current asking price, however.

Hibs are said to want a deal in the region of £5 million plus add-ons for Doig but Arsenal will only begin to talk if the Easter Road club bring their valuation down to £2.5 million. That’s half of what Jack Ross’ side want and it is unlikely Hibs will cut their price so drastically.
