Arsenal have handed Scotland a major boost as Kieran Tierney looks set to return to training at the start of May.

The left-back was placed as a doubt for Euro 2020 after Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta ruled him out for the season earlier this month. Tierney suffered a knee injury against Liverpool at the start of April and hasn’t featured since.

Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has already been ruled out of Euro 2020 while Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie is a serious doubt after a fractured foot injury. But there’s more hope that the Arsenal star will be able to feature at the tournament in June, having become a key player for Steve Clarke’s side.

An Arsenal update reads: “Left knee. Kieran sustained ligament damage to his left knee during the match against Liverpool on April 3. Kieran continues to make positive progress and is hoping to be back in training within two to three weeks.”
