Scotland U19s star Kyle Joseph looks set for a move north of the border as big names like Arsenal chase his services down.
The teenage attacker has had a breakthrough campaign at Wigan this season, scoring five times in 16 appearances for the Latics as they battle for League One survival. It’s resulted in links to the likes of Arsenal.
Other top European sides have been after the 19-year-old but it appears as if a move to the nation he represents internationally is on the cards. Celtic are reportedly close to securing a deal for Joseph.
The current Scottish Premiership champions are planning a summer rebuild as Rangers stand on the brink of ending their 10-in-a-row title dreams. Joseph, who has made six Scotland U19s appearances, is one player they want in the door.
Arsenal and the Gers had enquired about Joseph as one for the future, the Gunners seeing him as part of their U23s squad before a move up to first-team level. But Celtic appear to be the destination of choice for Joseph.
The Scotland U19s international is out of contract in the summer and will be available for a compensation fee should he move to an English club like Arsenal. Wigan could receive less for him if he moved to Celtic due to cross-border compensation rules.
