Manager Steve Clarke told him to hang back – But Arsenal star Kieran Tierney wasn’t able to do that for his Scotland boss as he shone against Faroe Islands.
The Arsenal left-back notched a hat-trick of assists from centre-back as Scotland eased past the Faroes 4-0. Tierney was easily Scotland’s best player over the international break and his latest Hampden display was the best.

But the Arsenal man has remained humble, saying (Sky Sports): “Good result, we needed that, to win the game with a clean sheet as well. I had a bit more time to go forward and I enjoyed it. Everybody knows I like being high and wide putting crosses in. That’s my game.
“My performance wasn’t bad, I just tried my best as always. I did a lot of that in this game. I think the manager wanted me to sit a bit more but I couldn’t help myself at times! It’s the perfect end to the camp.
“The boys will be happy with that as there was a bit more confidence about us as well. It was a good way to end it.”
