Ayr United moved to secure an emergency goalkeeper in Peter Urminsky after Aston Villa loanee Viljami Sinisalo picked up an injury.
The St Mirren youngster started as Arbroath beat the Honest Men 1-0, keeping them in the Championship relegation play-off spot. Their Aston Villa loanee has been an ever-present in Ayr’s side this season but suffered a knock prior to kick-off against the Red Litchies.
Sinisalo has started every Championship match prior to Saturday’s defeat since arriving from Aston Villa in the summer. The only games he has missed are League Cup group stage matches, in which he was on international duty.
Ayr also have Ellis Hare-Reid to call upon should there be further problems in the goalkeeping department. The Honest Men are in need of a revival in form, winning four of their 16 Championship matches this season. They travel to Greenock Morton next Saturday.
