Championship outfit Ayr United have officially unveiled their new home kit for the 2020/21 season – and it’s a corker.

The kit is now sponsored by Hummel and not Adidas, and features black chevrons down the shoulders and a black pattern at the neckline, against an all-white top to create a striking look.

That is complemented with inverse colouring for the shorts (black with white chevrons) and white socks.

The kit is available to pre-order now, but the club say they are not currently able to get them out as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.

The Honest Men stress that this is a good way for supporters to help the club during a challenging time.

With football suspended in Scotland, and indeed in many parts of the world now, clubs cannot rely on matchday revenues which are so crucial for sustainability.

Gate sales make up a considerable chunk of income for Scottish teams, so selling things such as season tickets and kits could potentially become key.

In an ideal world, football will resume later this year, and fourth-placed Ayr can have a strong finish to 2019/20.

It would be great for fans to see their team turning out in their lovely new home kit playing Premiership football in 2020/21 rather than the Championship again.
