Ayr United have secured the signing of Rangers academy product Aidan McAdams from cinch Championship club Greenock Morton.
McAdams was a standout for Morton last season after his move from Rangers, winning the club’s Player of the Year award. He moves to Ayrshire on a two-year deal to rejoin former Cappielow boss David Hopkin at Ayr United.
Cameron Salkeld, Mark Fjørtoft and Sean McGinty have already joined Ayr from Morton alongside the Rangers academy product. Former Morton manager Jim Duffy meanwhile has joined Hopkin’s coaching staff ahead of the 2021/22 term.
Hopkin said of McAdams: “Aidan had a great season for Morton so we are delighted to be able to get him, especially as he had several options. He is a really good age at 22 and has a good future in the game. It is no surprise that he won every award going at Morton.
“We are certain that he will continue his development here. We made it one of our priorities to get a goalkeeper signed to the club as it has been loans for the last few years so we are really pleased to have signed Aidan for two years.”
