Barry Douglas says it was the ‘right moment’ for him to return to Lech Poznan, despite UK interest in the former Dundee United left-back after his exit from Leeds United.

Douglas has moved abroad to Poland for a second time, having first joined Poznan in 2013 from Dundee United. The left-back was on the lookout for a new club after leaving Leeds United earlier this summer and had interest both north and south of the border. But returning to the place he won the Ekstraklasa in 2015 was too good to turn down.

He said (LP): “I am really excited and I need to thank the fans here. They showed me a lot of love and it was the right moment. Now is the time for a new project, it’s exciting. What I am hearing is there are a lot of good players here.

“I have a lot of good memories here, some tough ones too, I had injuries. It’s a new moment and I want to make more happy memories. I want to help the team as much as I can and compete. The fans here demand you do that every game. At a club like Lech Poznan, you can’t get outworked by another team. We want to challenge for the title.”
