Barry Ferguson believes nephew Lewis Ferguson’s family ties wouldn’t stop him from swapping Aberdeen for Celtic amid rising interest.

Rangers are said to be monitoring Aberdeen’s top scorer after another good season for Ferguson had him score nine times from midfield. The Pittodrie club have already rejected bids from down south as interest is materialised, Ferguson is set to be joined in the north-east midfield by Celtic captain Scott Brown.

Ferguson’s dad, Derek Ferguson, played for Rangers as did uncle Barry, but the latter still thinks Celtic could be a potential destination if he is to leave Aberdeen (Go Radio): “I don’t think he would have a problem with that. Just for the simple fact I know a lot of people go on about his dad playing with Rangers.

“I’m his uncle and that I played with Rangers. In Lewis’ head he wouldn’t even consider that. I know for a fact he is going to have options, because obviously Lewis is a top young player. We just need to wait and see but I don’t think that would cross his mind.”
