Hearts’ Liverpool loanee Ben Woodburn will train with players like Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale this week after being given a late call to join the Wales squad.
Wales caretaker manager Rob Page named his squad for two World Cup 2022 qualifiers and a friendly with Finland last week and Woodburn was not involved. The Hearts attacking midfielder has since completed his season-long loan move to the Scottish Premiership from Liverpool and made his debut against Dundee United on Saturday.

Hearts won 2-0 as Robbie Neilson’s team maintained their unbeaten league record ahead of a first Edinburgh derby with Hibs after the international break. A statement reads: “Ben Woodburn has been called up to the Wales squad.
“The on-loan Liverpool forward, who made his Hearts debut in Saturday’s 2-0 cinch Premiership win at Dundee United, has been added to caretaker manager Rob Page’s squad for their upcoming international matches. The call up marks a return to the national team set up for the first time in nearly a year.
“Wales travel to Helsinki for a friendly against Finland on Wednesday before facing Belarus in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday. They round off the international period by hosting Estonia in Cardiff next Wednesday in another World Cup qualifier.”
