Billy Gilmour has only just returned from injury – but reports abroad have suggested the Chelsea and Scotland talent could make a transfer move following this (Calciomercato).
The teenage midfielder is viewed as one of Chelsea and Scotland’s brightest stars of the future, making 11 domestic appearances for the Blues last term and chapping on the door of Steve Clarke’s senior squad.

But injury has curtailed his progress in recent months after a torn meniscus in July. He returned to senior action midweek for Chelsea in the Champions League against Seville.
Now his name is being linked with a big switch abroad to the Serie A. Reports in Italy have suggested that Napoli could be a potential landing spot for the midfielder.
It could happen as early as January when the transfer window opens next month. Initially, it would be a loan move to Naples for Gilmour.

This would be so the Italian club could gauge whether he works in their system, before launching a permanent transfer in the summer. Gilmour would be joining another Scottish talent, Aaron Hickey of Bologna, in Serie A if he did make this move.
Whether this happens or not remains to be seen, as it is unlikely the Scottish starlet is one Chelsea would want to lose, given how many times manager Frank Lampard has talked of his long-term importance at Stamford Bridge.
